Why Don't I Have Access to Music on Instagram?

I get it, it's frustrating. You've crafted the perfect Reel, and now all you need is that popular music that is the icing that adds hope of going viral.
Unfortunately, due to copyright issues, Instagram limits the music available to business accounts.
I didn't understand why at first but, after reading more about copyright infringement without my head exploding. it makes sense.
Basically, it's to protect recording artists' property from showing up on a business page or reel that doesn't represent who they are.
I think we can all agree we need to protect artists and creatives' livelihoods, right?

How Can I Add Music Without the Music Library?
Even without the built-in free music library, there are a few ways you can get good music and sounds on your Instagram business account, and still create Instagram videos in a unique way.

Add Your Own Original Audio
You can create short videos using your own voice in several different ways.

- Speak to your audience on camera and share tips or facts about your small business or industry
- You can do the same type of video and use a voice-over
- Use Meta Business Suite and access the Meta sound collection.
Someone Else's Original Audio
This works for some content creators and it's a way to get Instagram music into your own reel.
1) Open your Instagram app
2) Click the reels icon
3) Scroll through some reels and find some popular songs or sound effects you like, or a new reel trend
4) Make sure it says original music on the top
5) Save the sound
6) Click the plus sign when you're ready to create a new reel
7) Look for a sound or song in your saved section
Royalty-free Music Platforms
Websites like Epidemic Sound or AudioJungle offer a wide range of tracks that you can legally add to your Reels after purchase.
They've got some great features and Epidemic Sound offers a free trial.

A Workaround
The good news is there's a little trick that many entrepreneurs, including yours truly, have tapped into.
Change your account category on your business profile from whatever it is to “entrepreneur”.
To change your category from Desktop:

You should now see the music icon and have access to the full music library!
Tips Before Sharing Your Reel
- Make sure you either create a nice cover photo or check the thumbnail to make sure everything is visible on your grid.
- Don't forget to use relevant hashtags
- Share it on your Instagram stories
