The Artificial Intelligence Revolution in Social Media
The digital realm is continuously evolving, with artificial intelligence (AI) making a grand entrance. One arena witnessing this transformative impact? Social media. Let's start with how AI is revolutionizing the social media domain.
Enhancing User Engagement Through AI
We'll start with social media user experience.
Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Linkedin are all trying to enhance customer experience, even though it might not seem that way to us.
But because social media channels prioritize a seamless user experience above all, by leveraging AI, they obtain critical insights into user behavior in real time.
I've noticed how creepy this feels scrolling through my newsfeed
My feed curiously yet fittingly consists of shark attacks, vengeful whales, and Buzzfeeds latest “20 things that will change your life” listicle.
So yes, creepy but through the power of AI, I get stories that keep me engaged. (Please don't judge me)
Your favorite social media platforms are utilizing an AI algorithm to serve you the most unique content to create the most engagement.
And, social networks are also utilizing AI to counter challenges like misinformation and hate speech, although it seems in recent years they can't keep up.
Now with a glimpse into how social media companies are utilizing the benefits of AI for a pleasant user experience, let's talk about what the benefits for marketers are.

My experience using AI as a social media marketer
I haven't personally used artificial intelligence to do everything on this list, but I do have to tell you, the first time I integrated the use of AI tools into my social media strategy, it felt like I'd unlocked a secret level in a game!
Suddenly, staring at a blank screen only lasted until I asked JasperAI to give me 25 ideas, and holy cow!
Of course, they weren't all great and some were sub-par, but that's why I always ask for between 10-25.

But here's a great article with some more good tools for marketers.
AI: Double-Edged Sword
Harnessing AI brings a myriad of benefits, but we all know it comes with a bit of caution.
There are concerns about data privacy, the potential for fake news, hate speech dissemination, and the challenge of replacing human interaction with robots, to name a few
My first blog post about AI touched on the 6-month pause and the petition that 1700 concerned people signed and also a few disturbing incidents with AI.
Why AI Doesn't Always Sit Right with Me
What's happening can be scary and definitely cause a sense of uncertainty. I have a few examples that make me uncomfortable.
A talk I recently attended about new software that has the ability to add the founder's voice and image in a video if he wasn't around to do it himself. 😳
He was so excited and impressed by the possibility and all I could think of was how sideways that could end up.
A few weeks later I read this:
And in Hollywood, there's currently an actor strike focused on AI replacing the need for some actors, which obviously saves on massive budgets in the industry, but doesn't give the actors compensation.
So, yea there are some bad apples out there and it could be dangerous.
Mapping My Path: An AI Commitment
Despite having a healthy dose of caution, for now, I've chosen to embrace the new frontier of AI,
I try not to worry about things I can't control, but focus on what I can control, so here's my declaration:
I will continue to be an ethical, responsible, and moral business owner that does my part to share and teach the benefits of AI.

To Wrap Up
As the social media landscape evolves, using AI in your social media marketing efforts is definitely worth a go,
but ensure you use only reputable apps and software, and always be wary of unfamiliar links in texts or emails.
In my work, I will sometimes do some brainstorming on ideas or topics, but I would never take something that was straight out of Chatty's mouth and put it into a final product. Everything I've seen needs a lot of editing, reworking, and a large dose of human involvement.
